Hey I haven't even formally done the introduction on the forum.   I will once I can pull myself away from Destiny during my free time.

The Podcast has been done pretty well IMO, listened to all of them so far.  You guys seem like you are having fun.  That always makes for a better listen.

Hey guys, I'm new to the Forum, but  not the world of Gaming. I actually started listening to the TTL Party chat as a way to get ideas on how to effectively run and operate a gaming group. Most of this is completely new to me personally, I had some friends that I played with, but it had absolutely zero structure.

Presently, we're a small group, there are about 15 of us total, and we try to play daily. (We've been brought together through Titanfall and presently Destiny.) I'm sure that a bureaucracy is clearly out of the question with 15 members, due to a lack of...bureaucrats. But I am looking for some ideas and advice on properly running a segment of the gaming community that all fly the same banner.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and I really enjoy the Podcast.

Thanks for your time.

Thanks for stopping by!

There's a lot of different ways to run a group, they'll manifest themselves naturally if you let them.

The most important thing is, why are you a group? We're based on playing games together, it's such a simple thing but it lets us have a prime directive. If there's ever other stupid personal drama that arises, we're able to focus on why we're here, to game together. Anything that detracts from that is unnecessary.

Oh and have fun with it, makes it a lot easier to come back around. We've just celebrated our 9th year as a gaming community!

Having a Prime Directive sounds really good. (And really old school, Captain Kirk would certainly approve.)

I personally believe that we have a singular focus, and that does really help us in our daily gaming.

Thank you advice. I'm most certainly open to any that you guys have to give.

Thanks again.

We done a great job keep strife out of ranks by ensuring that we keep political and religious issues away from the group. It makes for much less opportunity to offend members.

If I get an Xbox One and MCC for Christmas, I would be willing to play Legendary Co-Op with people, because I haven't completed them for ANY Halo game at all!

I watched that Halo BTS as well the other day; I'm not surprised Marty and Joe went back to Microsoft for Halo as, clearly, they seemed to be in their element with that more than with Destiny.

@TTL Party Chat Ep #009:

Yeah, the PS4-exclusive "Undying Mind" Strike is, actually, quite unpleasant, as I got to play it last week or so.  First you have five waves of forces with all sorts, including Hydras and Axis Hydras, but it gets A LOT worse once you reach that long, narrow staircase beyond the Atrium...

When you get up top, you encounter about three waves of Precursors - for those who haven't played Vault of Glass, they are basically smaller versions of the three Sol Progeny Minds in the final Campaign mission.  Each wave will have about half a dozen Precursor Minotaurs, which can take up to 30mins total to deal with in close quarters even if your allies are Lvl 28s, including a Cyclops.  As with Minotaurs as well, when they're not firing off artillery, they will gladly teleport in your face or chase you down back to the staircase to melee you to death.

After that when fighting Undying Mind, they are pretty much the mainstay alongside standard units.  He also has four small riot-shields instead of a single barrier, which makes it tough to inflict damage whilst waves spawn on top of you from all directions. Essentially the strike took an hour to complete.

I've also played the Omnigul Strike on PS4... I hate it, though that upper ledge before the entrance to the final room is quite useful when you want to spam-kill Knight/Thrall waves when they spawn.

On Lvl 26 that took twice as long as Undying Mind.

Post by: Cute on Dec. 27, 2014, 1:52 PM
Yeah, not a lot of new mechanics, if any, were introduced there. Would have really liked to see Omnigul split into 3-4 different shorter instances throughout that fight where you get a third/fourth of her health each time. Really feels like that's how it's supposed to be as well since the two fights before her big room are pretty long.
Title: Re: TTL Party Chat Podcast
Post by: Hyncharas on Dec. 28, 2014, 6:17 AM
Well, in a lot of ways, Omnigul is boring because, once you actually get to that room, it's just 20-30 mins of rediculous peek-a-boo with her.  Even Sepiks Prime was a more thought out strike.

You're exaggerating a bit. She takes about the same time as all the other strike bosses, maybe a minute or two longer. ~5-7 minutes, unless you're trying to solo it. I agree that they should be more interesting though.

The last MMO I played was FFXIV, and they have little mini raid instances all throughout their leveling progression, that's how strikes should have been done IMO. But, right now they are just harder story missions instead of easier raid instances.

@ Episode 11:

You guys called it pretty good on Crota's End "Hard" - yes, there are Gatekeepers in the Crota boss-fight.  Aside from raids, personally, I wish there was an area to explore occupied by nothing but Ogres, with an Ogre Chieftain not as large as Phogoth but bigger than the current ones.

I'm inclined to believe that House of Wolves will have a Fallen raid, given the Queen rules over a ton of them, so maybe it happens in The Reef.  I'd also like to explore non-planet locations.

@ TTL Party Chat Ep #012:

Destiny
I can understand Turcotte's viewpoint about three months being ideal for DLC releases but, in terms of VoG there were a lot of bugs, and there were even a few in CE that could've been sorted out but weren't prior to release.  Depending on how extensive House of Wolves' storyline is, the second expansion might be bigger than the first given only three planets (and the Moon) in the system are viable locations in the current build, and there is a chance The Reef will be a playable area.  I doubt very much Warlock armor is going to get any better, but it takes lots of time to build playtest and balance new weapons and gameplay experiences, so I think some lessons have been learned from The Dark Below.

Battlefield Hardline
Tankers take three launcher grenades  ;)

I managed to play two days of BFH and the driving mechanics are still a little crap for ground vehicles, though we haven't really seen all of the transport capabilities in the game; i.e., there might be boats.  However, I agree that building mehcanics (in the Beta, at least) killed the illusion.  There was also a bug encountered the first day where one of the player models was invisible, so naturally I couldn't kill them every time they got the chance.

Sadly I didn't have time to play Heist or Rescue, but elements of Hotwire and Large Conquest were cool.  In terms of the wow factor, the truth is BFH is in its early stages because we haven't seen the full release, though it feels like a spiritual successor to NFS Most Wanted, only with foot-based and aerial gameplay.

Yeah, many in the outfit either have run or participated in the podcast over the years.

With PlanetSide 2's new locations taking 7 months at a time to release, however, activity has declined.

One of the biggest fears I have with The Division is that the engine has been in development as far back as 2009...

If the game gets pushed back to next year, it will start to feel like Human Head's Prey which, by the way, took the better part of a decade before it was released!

Going to the site http://theguardiansofdestiny.com/category/ttl/ (http://theguardiansofdestiny.com/category/ttl/)

Why is this message popping up?

This Site Has Been Moved to a New Server.

It may be possible to restore access to this site by following these instructions (https://documentation.cpanel.net/display/CKB/How%20To%20Clear%20Your%20DNS%20Cache) for clearing your dns cache.

What's weird is, I can still click the links and listen to the podcast without following those instructions... (I'm hesitant to clear the DNS here at work. Listening incognito...)
